Pori Offshore Wind Hub and Tahkoluoto Offshore Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Collaboration

The City of Pori, Port of Pori Ltd, and Tahkoluoto Offshore Oy, the developer of the Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm Extension project, are entering into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of the Pori Offshore Wind Hub.

The collaboration will define the role of the Pori Offshore Wind Hub as the primary logistics and pre-installation hub for the Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm Extension project. The partnership also involves developing the area’s infrastructure to meet the needs of the extension project. The MoU provides a clear two-year timeframe for implementing the necessary investments in the port area.

The Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm Extension project, planned by Tahkoluoto Offshore Oy, will consist of 40 turbines with a capacity of approximately 15–20 megawatts each. The estimated construction schedule for the project is 2027–2029.

“This agreement emphasizes joint development: we are sharing knowledge to support the planning and implementation of both port infrastructure and logistics. Resource optimization is also key—our collaboration ensures that all necessary resources and functions required for the project are available,” says Lauri Kilkku, Executive Director of the City of Pori.

“The Pori Offshore Wind Hub offers a significant advantage for the Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm Extension project. It is unique to have a logistics hub located so close to the construction site of an offshore wind farm. This project supports cost-effective solutions and the development of market-based offshore wind power,” says Toni Sulameri, Managing Director of Tahkoluoto Offshore Oy.

The Pori Offshore Wind Hub provides a world-class operating environment for wind power producers and related service providers. The hub focuses on pre-installation and maintenance services for wind turbines, with an operational reach that covers the entire Bothnian Sea, including Finnish and Swedish territorial waters.
